| Zekkino the brick is a construction system realised with concrete bricks, prearranged in order to house installations. |

The system consists of lightened concrete bricks, suitable for buildings up to three storeys having a homogeneous structure. Due to their bearing capacity, they can well replace the traditional fine-textured rock stony elements; this allows to eliminate the carpentry required for frame bearing structures (pillars and beams), thus saving materials and time. Through internal cavities, both horizontal and vertical, this brick allows to house installations, thus eliminating the need for chases and saving a lot of time and material.

| Moreover, if required by the static analysis of the construction to be carried out, it is possible to make the masonry more resistant by inserting reinforcing rods both horizontally and vertically: this is made possible by holes and housings which, when filled with concrete (sufficiently dense and blown in the holes), create “small pillars” inside the brick masonry. |

In fact, the initial idea object of the patent was to create a brick for bearing masonry and/or walls, having the peculiarity to use modular sections whose internal holes would create a network among all sections, mainly with the aim to obtain a wired structure.
The process of development and engineering of the system took place in several steps; during each step, the functional and static characteristics of every envisaged solution were checked by creating both graphic tri-dimensional models and material models (1:1 scale).
In this way, the use of the system has been optimised, increasingly ensuring the achievement of the patent’s aims: i.e. a rapid construction of masonry houses, saving a lot of time and building materials.
